The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has suspended its lecturer, Dr Igbeneghu Boniface who was involved in a sex-for-marks scandal.
The lecturer was exposed in a video by BBC Africa where an undercover journalist, Kiki Mordi, disguised as a 17-year-old admission seeker.
Premium Times reports that the institution’s vice-chancellor, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, confirmed the development to its reporter in an interview Monday afternoon.
According to the report, Ogundipe said the randy lecturer and pastor at Gospel Pillars Church, has been suspended indefinitely.
“A panel will be set up to investigate the issue,” the UNILAG vice-chancellor was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, the Foursquare Gospel Church has equally suspended Dr Boniface from all ministerial assignments with immediate effect.
In a statement exclusively obtained by CAMPUS GIST Monday afternoon, the church also dissociated itself totally from the act of the said pastor.
The statement which was signed by the church’s national secretary, Rev lkechukwu Ugbaja, said investigation into the act had begun, promising to sanction the pastor if found wanting.
