My attention has been drawn to a report ‘making the rounds’ on social media that I, HON. OGBIDI OSEMUDIAMEN ELVIS, immediate past President of the Students’ Union Government, University of Benin, is a supporter of a non existing factional NANS leadership.
This story is not only malicious, but also misleading.
Ordinarily, this would have been best ignored. I am however constrained to write due to the severe implications of the allegations on my integrity as an individual, a Senator and Elder statesman.
On this note, I wish to reaffirm that my loyalty and allegiance as a person, is to the ONLY authentic President of NANS, COMRADE DANIELSON BAMIDELE AKPAN, GCNS, one with the mandate of the Nigerian students.
More so, permit me to quickly use this opportunity to dissuade the management of the University of Benin against delaying the 2018 SUG election further. As the saying goes: “delay is dangerous”, management should as well understand that these aspirants have been campaigning on limited funds for long, and must have spent their entire resources on public awareness campaigns while exam draw closer.
May I also call on the University authority to pay more attention to Students’ Welfare as more work need to be done in the area of Students welfarism. Same also goes to the State Government, Federal and Policy makers, to always make laws that would favour the students community instead of introducing policies that would lead to ‘fee hike’.
Finally, my sincere appreciation goes to Adaze Relief Association, Canada for giving back to the society through her “Students Bursary Award Scheme”, targeted at first year students of Edo indigene. This scholarship is worth N80,000 and would run for three consecutive years irrespective of the program of study. Registration can be done at Shop 59, Maingate Shopping complex, University of Benin. Or call Blessed Jatt on 07066015026, WhatsApp 08121817765. Application closes midnight of August 4, 2018, and it is absolutely FREE! (excluding cafe charges).
Towards a “One, United NANS” and “#NewDawn” mandate, I stand.
Thank you, and may God bless you.
Yours in the Struggle for a Better Nigeria🇳🇬,
Hon. Ogbidi Osemudiamen Elvis
