Heavy chaos rocked the Old Parade ground in Abuja on Tuesday, July 10, as members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, were holding a convention to elect new set of national leaders.
The chaos, it was learnt, erupted following the declaration of results for the office of the Convention Chairman, by the Convention Planning Committee, CPC.
CAMPUS GIST gathered that the total number of votes were higher than the accredited voters.
Confirming this development, one of the delegates who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, narrated that chaos erupted at about 6:30pm on Tuesday when the number of vote polled exceeded the accredited voters.
According to him, “272 delegates were accredited for the exercise, but 275 votes were counted at the end of the day.
“Noticeable number of Senators are protesting this, but the process continues as M. D. Mukhtar presides”, he said.
